The “New You”

The “old” you (spirit, soul, and body) was controlled by your sinful nature, through the unregenerate mind. However, the “new” you (your spirit has been regenerated by the forgiveness of your sins and indwelling of the Holy Spirit) has a clean slate and fresh start. At this point you’re in control of the mind, soul, and body; giving you the ability to transform your mind through God’s words of righteousness – redirecting the desires of the soul and body from that of the flesh to the Spirit: “The mind controlled by the sinful nature is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. The sinful mind is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you (Romans 8:5-8, 11 TNIV).”
