The Bible – God’s Breath of Life

Jesus is called the Word of God (Revelation 19:11-16). The Bible is also spoken of as being the Word of God, because God breathed it into the Bible writers – enabling them to write it without error.

Consider this being the same as when God created Adam. After God made Adam’s body from the dirt, he just laid there lifeless. For Adam to become a living being it was necessary for God to breathe into him the breath of life (Genesis 2:7).

Likewise, it is with the words of the Bible. The words that we read from the Bible only have life because God breathed them into the writers, through the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21). So when we read, are taught, and understand the words of the Bible – God jumps off the pages – life is breathed into us (2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12).

I like the way the Amplified Bible expresses the passage of Hebrews 4:12, ”For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”

God’s Picture of You

“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous — and how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand (Psalm 139:13-18 NLT)!”

The day you were born, brought delight beyond description to your Creator. His “precious thoughts” about you can’t be imagined. It would be good for you ever so often to go to a place where there is an abundance of sand to meditate on this thought. When you do, you’re looking at all of God’s “precious thoughts” about you! The place where you are standing is only one small part of an entire world with grains of sand. This really does help get a perspective of God’s view of you – incomprehensible. You were created to be an exceptional attribute in contributing what no one else is capable of doing, regarding God’s plan throughout your lifetime and eternity.

Your coming into the world wasn’t an accident and didn’t catch God off guard; it was predetermined before time existed. So, as you celebrate your upcoming birthdays, look at each one the way God does – exceptional! Don’t let them just slide by – make a big deal out of each one. It doesn’t have to be done extravagantly in a monetary way – just make sure you savior this special day. If you can’t celebrate it on the actual day then set a time aside and enjoy it as soon as possible. Every day of your life, God has only the best planned for you so that you’ll: (1) carry out the walk He’s designed for you and (2) Enjoy the Most of Life’s Journey, while in-route with Him.

The “New You”

The “old” you (spirit, soul, and body) was controlled by your sinful nature, through the unregenerate mind. However, the “new” you (your spirit has been regenerated by the forgiveness of your sins and indwelling of the Holy Spirit) has a clean slate and fresh start. At this point you’re in control of the mind, soul, and body; giving you the ability to transform your mind through God’s words of righteousness – redirecting the desires of the soul and body from that of the flesh to the Spirit: “The mind controlled by the sinful nature is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. The sinful mind is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you (Romans 8:5-8, 11 TNIV).”

Having Total Confidence

In What You Can’t See

NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses] (Hebrews 11:1 Amplified Bible).

Faith “is” and has “substance.” But, faith’s evidence can’t be seen with your natural eye at the start. Because, faith is what you are hoping for, as seen from the eyes of your born-again heart– that is, what God has promised you through His word. Faith is being assured of and obedient to God’s commandments; that whatever the Bible has proclaimed it will come to pass – that’s visualizing  through your heart of faith in believing (being steadfast and unmovable) what you’ve hope for will take place, “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes (Mark 9:23 NLT).”

As a testimonial – as I was waiting in my car for an appointment and writing this section to post on the Internet – Linda called me with a tremendous praise report. She had a very challenging health report from the doctor a number of months back and was asked to have ultrasound testing, which she did about two weeks previously. She called to let me know that all was benign. We praised the Lord and prayed over the phone together – giving Him the glory for all of His goodness.

God is true to His word – He only has the best planned for our life – a future with hope and without harm! Right now, with whatever you’re facing in life – He’s asking you to have faith in Him. It’s never too big or too small of a problem with God – His only desire for you in life, is His best!
